Today the postman delivered the missing 2GB of GeIL DDR2-800 Ram for the Flightsim box. They were quickly unpackaged and found their way into the slots on the Gigabyte P35-DS3 Mainboard.
As everything else seems to be fine so far i think i’ll give it a test flight online (Vatsim) tonight to see how things go. I also found a way to probably get rif of those out-of-memory Errors that forced a CTD (”Crash to desktop”) on nearly every flight with the »Queen of the skies« (Boeing 747-400). If everything works fine tonight i’ll post a howto for the OOM-Fix maybe tomorrow or so - we’ll see.

Rumors say that depends on Vista but 2GB of Memory in your Vista PC are definitely not enough to fly with FSX in good conditions. I did some more testing today with FS Global 2008 and Ultimate Terrain X Europe installed and memory rapidly was sucked empty. That’s when the swapping action begins and your (S)ATA Drives have to be handled by all your hardware (PCI Bus, CPU and so on) and where you loose performance. Let’s hope that this is the primary reason for my performance shortage - i just ordered another 2GB for the FSX-Machine.
